Choosing a University is one of the important decisions you will ever make. Whether you are going to be studying at undergraduate or postgraduate level, moving on to higher education involve a huge personal investment both financially and with regards to time. You may be spending several years of your life at a University so you need to take a number of factors into account. You will like to consider the overall environment in which you will be studying, the reputation of the University in terms of teaching and research, and the quality of the facilities and welfare services that are on offer. UK institutions are held in high regards across the world; the degrees awarded are recognised by employers in any country and students who graduate from the UK are sought after by numerous business and organisations. Bangor is proud to be part of this great tradition of providing education of international standard and excellent student support.
Bangor University was founded in 1884, making it one of the oldest and prestigious Universities in the UK. For more than 120 years students from all over the world have graduated from Bangor and as a result have gone on to achieve great success in their chosen careers. Today, the University offers over 250 different undergraduate/Bachelor degrees, more than 150 courses at postgraduate level and provides the opportunity for research in around 40 unique areas. Bangor is listed among the top 20 Universities in the UK in 15 different subject areas which include Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Finance and Accounting, Economics, Agriculture and Forestry, Psychology, Chemistry, Marine Sciences, Sports Science and Law.
There are numerous ranking systems used in the UK to assess the quality of Universities and it can often be confusing for students when deciding what factors to consider. However, in Bangor’s case it could not be simpler; we are consistently ranked among the top half out of more than 120-recognised Universities in surveys conducted by leading UK newspapers such as The Guardian and The Times. This reflects not just the high quality of teaching and research but also student satisfaction ratings, standard of facilities on offer and the considerable investment which we make in supporting each and every one of our students.
Every five to six year the UK government organises a detailed analysis of all research conducted in British Universities. This study is called the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) and during the most recent RAE, Bangor proved itself to be among the very top University in the UK. Each academic school which is assessed is awarded a final rating of 1:5*, with 1 being the lowest and 5* the highest. Scores of 4 and above indicate that research activity of world-wide international excellence is being carried out. An impressive 77% of all the staff at Bangor who were assessed were placed in the top 4, 5 and 5* grades.
“Bangor takes its place as an academic high achiever when measured against the best UK can offer, with excellent’ rating in a range of subjects.” - The Virgin Alternative Guide to British Universities.
The University of Buckingham was founded in 1976. It is the only independent University in the United Kingdom to hold a royal charter, which gives it the power to award its own degrees. It is a non-profit making charity. From the outset its primary aim has been to focus on the teaching of students, at a time when government has decided that research should be a University’s primary goal (though of course, Buckingham has significant and growing research strength tool).
Buckingham is a thriving and challenging academic community, dedicated to excellence. However, it remains a university on a human’s scale: with just under a thousand students on campus it is a place where nobody is lost in the crowd and friendship are quickly made. It has one of the best student to staff ratios in the world and its professors and lecturers are as involved with students as is humanly possible. Thus it is not surprising that it held the heads the legal tables of student’s satisfaction.
For the second year running the University of Buckingham was placed top of the 2007 National Student Survey table. A breakdown of student satisfaction levels by subject put Buckingham Business School in second position amongst all UK universities (Sunday Times University Guide, 23 September 2007). Buckingham Business School achieved the highest score in two critical areas where students were asked to give ratings: Assessment & feedback and Academic support. We were placed within the top four for all seven areas of thee student experience.

University Foundation Programme was established in 1989, UFP was the UK’s first independent foundation programme, today, UFP is recognised as the leading foundation programme in the country. Out team has a wealth of experience in preparing students for entry into the British university system, and we have excellent relationships with many UK and international universities.
UFP is a modular course which allows students entry into nearly all degree courses. The modular structure provides students with greater flexibility than is offered by other foundation programmes, which is particularly useful for students who are initially unsure about their choice of university or degree course.
Who is UFP for?
UFP is designed for students who wish to enter a British university, and who do not wish to risk taking GCE A-levels. The majority of UFP students are international students who have finished high school in their own country. These students may have excelled in their own country’s educational system, but their qualifications are not recognised in Britain. UFP offers such students a faster route into British universities than A-levels (which normally take two years), while at the same time broadening their knowledge, developing their study skills, and providing them with a sound academic base for degree-level education.
However we do accept UK students with good GCSE grades or students who have attempted A-levels but did not achieve the grades required to enter the university course of their choice.
We also recommend UFP to students who have stopped at Certificate level on the international Baccalaureate-IB. UFP is offered by the David Game College Group in both London and Bath.
Independence
UFP is independent of any particular university, therefore UFP student are free to apply to any university of their choice.
Guarantee
Students who successfully complete UFP are guaranteed a place at a UK university.
Excellence
UFP offers an exceptional standard of education, consequently UFP students can easily make the transition to degree-level education.
